Obermeyer is an independent engineering group founded in 1958 by Dr. Leonhard Obermeyer. Over decades of continuous growth, the company has evolved from a single-engineer office into a global organisation.
Today, Obermeyer is driven by a clear ambition: to design and deliver sustainable, liveable infrastructure, buildings and urban environments worldwide.
From one engineer to a global enterprise
In 1958, Dr. Leonhard Obermeyer founded a small engineering office near Munich, Germany. With his pioneering spirit, courage, and a straightforward - at times unconventional -approach, he laid the foundation for what Obermeyer is today: a global organisation with a shared ambition to design and deliver sustainable, liveable infrastructure and urban environments worldwide. From the very beginning, innovation has been part of Obermeyer’s DNA. As early as 1967, we integrated digital technologies into our engineering. Since then, we have continuously advanced digital planning, developed industry-leading solutions, and further strengthened our focus on sustainability. Today, we continue to build on this legacy - combining engineering excellence, innovation, and responsibility to create projects that make a lasting positive impact on people, communities, and the environment.

1958
Company is founded
Civil engineer Leonhard Obermeyer founds the Obermeyer engineering consultancy in Krailling near Munich., Germany
1966
Flagship renovation project
Renovation of the Stachus buildings in Munich, Germany. Obermeyer is responsible for engineering and construction management. The project was completed in 1971
1967
Our first computer
Use of our first computer. Foundation of new subsidiaries in West Germany.
1980
First international project
Obermeyer expands abroad and opens first subsidiaries in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the People’s Republic of China.
1990
German Railways Project
Obermeyer is the general planner for the German re-unification project connecting Ebensfeld (West Germany) and Erfurt (East Germany), by a high speed railway line, the project was completed in 2017.
1995
New International Offices
The company is concentrating on expansion abroad, new subsidiaries are opened in Russia/CIS, the United Arab Emirates, South-Eastern Europe and North Africa.
2005
1.000 km rail in China
Obermeyer is appointed for the planning and management of the project to design the 1000 km high-speed rail link between Wuhan and Guangzhou (People’s Republic of China).
2020
Al Ain Hospital
Starting 2008, Obermeyer provides general planning and construction management for Al Ain Hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, implementing BIM methodology for the first time.
2023
New sole shareholder
Jens Ulrich becomes sole shareholder of the Obermeyer group and focuses the business activities in Germany on the infrastructure sector.
